Historic Yates Mill County Park


I love that Raleigh and the surrounding areas have beautiful county parks. Yates Mill is one of them and it's located just outside of downtown Raleigh. Yates Mill is home to an old historic mill with great walking trails and a pond. Without hiking in too far, you can reach several spots that are great for photos!

Things to Love


  1. Beautiful mill and buildings: If you love historic buildings, this might be the place for you. There are both wood and stone buildings that are well cared for. They create so much charm and are a beautiful backdrop while not overpowering the image of your family.
  2. Trails are well groomed: This park is well maintained and easy to walk making it easy for families to access.
  3. Landscape: I love the rocks, bridges, flowers, river, and lake. I love that you can feel like you are in the woods without hiking miles to your destination. This gives variety for family photos because we can move around and include a new backdrop so easily. Your gallery can look like you went to multiple locations, when in reality, you just went to one!
